In Foundation Stage, that means feeling safe and secure as the foundation for all learning, with strong relationships, predictable routines and consistent care helping children build trust from their very first day.
Through Prep, this matures into resilience, self-regulation and responsibility, supported by dedicated PSHE provision and responsive pastoral teams.
By Senior school, wellbeing underpins genuine agency: Year 7 to 9 students are supported through dedicated wellbeing programmes, mentorship and leadership opportunities, guided through key transitions by pastoral teams and school counsellors.
Across every phase, dedicated wellbeing centres and counsellors ensure support is close by, long before it’s ever needed.

Safeguarding at SRI is defined simply: protecting children from maltreatment, preventing impairment of their health or development, and ensuring every child has the environment and support to achieve the best possible outcomes. Every member of our community shares responsibility for keeping children safe, whatever their role.

Any parent with a safeguarding concern is encouraged to speak directly to a member of this team. Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility and at SRI, that’s more than a policy line; it’s how the school operates everyday.
Student Voice
Agency at the centre.
Our Pioneer Framework places Student Agency at its centre, expressed through Voice (sharing ideas and questions), Choice (deciding how and what to explore) and Ownership (taking responsibility for progress and growth).
This extends into leadership roles across the school: House Captains, Student Council Representatives, and Innovation, Sport, CAPA and Global Awareness Ambassadors, alongside Reading, Wellbeing and Sustainability Champions. Students at SRI help shape the school, influence decision-making, and represent the voices of their peers.
Family First & Parent Partnership
Family as the foundation of learning.
In 2024, GEMS launched Family First, a global movement grounded in the belief that family is the foundation of learning and of a peaceful, prosperous society, continuing GEMS’ 60+ year legacy of championing family values.
At SRI, this translates into a genuine partnership with parents: a seamless model with real-time progress tracking keeps you connected to your child’s learning, wellbeing and development, without waiting for a termly update.
