This mindset runs across every subject, not just a technology lesson. Learning progresses intentionally, from foundational experiences in FS1 to industry-level application by Year 9, inside UAE’s first fully AI-integrated school ecosystem. Students don’t just learn about innovation. They learn to think like innovators: asking better questions, testing ideas, and applying what they learn to problems that matter.
Resources at SRI include working with 3D printers, XR and VR technology, humanoid and quadruped robots, and a NeuroTracker cognitive training system used by elite sport professionals. The region’s first Esports and Game Design Academy sits alongside an engineering lab with Formula 1 and karting simulators, and a FoodTec Lab exploring hydroponics and 3D food printing.

Sustainability at SRI is a real-world case study. The campus is LEED Gold-certified, with roughly 30% of electricity drawn from solar power, alongside rainwater harvesting supporting daily operations.

Director of Technology and Innovation
Zaineb Mahdi is an educational leader with extensive experience across outstanding schools, including GEMS Wellington International School and GEMS Royal Dubai School. With a background in Computer Science and experience across British schools in both the UK and the UAE, she has held senior leadership positions including Deputy Principal and Cluster Lead for Innovation and Digital Technology. As an Excellence Fellow for Innovation, she leads Digital Technology and AI across the GEMS Premium and British Schools cluster in the UAE and Qatar.

Beyond the Timetable
Trailblazer and Co-Curricular <Innovation.
This mindset runs well beyond the timetable through the Trailblazer Curriculum. In the early years, students build simple machines in Innovators of Play and control robots through block-based coding — the earliest form of asking “what if” and testing the answer. Through Prep, this develops into Robotics and AI, Minecraft: Code to Survive, Drones and Flight, and Game Development.
By Senior school, students choose specialist pathways such as the AI Innovators Lab (building real-world AI projects in Python), Digital Art and Design, or Esports Industry and Coaching — each culminating in an authentic project, prototype or portfolio: the opportunity to build something real, not just study the theory behind it.
