THE PIONEER FRAMEWORK
How possibility takes shape.
The Pioneer Framework is the foundation of every learning experience at GEMS School of Research and Innovation, Dubai. Delivered through research-informed teaching and rooted in the National Curriculum for England, it equips students with critical thinking, adaptability, collaboration, creativity and digital fluency, through five connected elements: Learning Skills, Digital Skills, Research Skills, Values in Action and Student Agency, embedded across every subject.
Six core digital skills run through the curriculum: computational thinking and coding; digital leadership and online responsibility; media literacy; data literacy and AI decision-making; sustainable technology use; and digital creativity.
Research-led learning helps students ask meaningful questions, evaluate evidence and communicate with precision — with pathways to modules, certifications and published work.
Pioneering, Empathy and Challenge with Care guide how students learn and treat others — shaping character alongside academic mastery.
Voice, Choice and Ownership sit at the centre of the framework — so students share ideas, decide how to explore, and take responsibility for their progress.

INCLUSION & WELLBEING
Known, supported and challenged.
Inclusion and wellbeing run through every phase at SRI. In Pre-Prep, every child is supported and challenged, with teaching adapted so every child succeeds and takes pride in their achievements. In Prep, every child accesses a challenging, knowledge-rich curriculum, with support and stretch built around individual needs. In Senior, the same principle lives inside Reading Across the Curriculum: targeted interventions ensure every student can access the curriculum, whatever their starting point, through to Year 9.
PSHE (Personal, Social, Health and Economic education) puts this into daily practice. From Year 3, PSHE is embedded throughout the week, building emotional literacy and social skills alongside academic learning. Year 4 builds on this, developing resilience and empathy through dedicated PSHE. This sits within a wider pastoral architecture at SRI - counsellors, dedicated wellbeing programmes and phase-based pastoral teams - spanning FS1 through to Year 9.
