Prep carries every child from Year 3 through to Year 6, building on the foundations of Pre-Prep as learning becomes more independent, connected across subjects, and increasingly geared toward the transition into Senior school.

Core learning deepens

Fluency, accuracy and depth.

Core learning deepens year on year, through research-informed teaching that builds fluency, accuracy and depth. Year 3 focuses on developing confidence in reading, writing and Maths. Year 4 secures and extends that fluency further, while Year 5 builds toward mastery of the same core skills. By Year 6, students consolidate this mastery to ensure readiness for Senior school, the goal of the whole Prep phase.

Language, vocabulary & oracy

Ideas spoken with clarity.

Language, vocabulary and oracy run through every year. In Year 3, students grow their vocabulary, learn to explain ideas clearly, and engage respectfully in discussion. This continues through Year 4 and Year 5, where vocabulary development, fluent reading and articulate spoken language are embedded across every subject. By Year 6, students are ready for the intellectual demands ahead.

Enquiry-driven understanding

Questions that lead to evidence.

Understanding the world becomes enquiry-driven. Through science, geography and history, Year 3 students ask questions, make observations, and begin to draw conclusions using evidence. Year 4 and Year 5 deepen this into enquiry, evidence-based thinking and global awareness, encouraging them to question, analyse and make meaningful connections across disciplines, a thread that carries through to Year 6.

Wellbeing matures into leadership

Character that carries forward.

Year 3 focuses on belonging and positive behaviour, supported by clear expectations and routines. Year 4 and Year 5 build responsibility and character, helping students manage challenges positively and grow in independence. By Year 6 students are prepared for the transition to Senior school.
